FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are labs drawn in the office?

Yes, they are! We use Quest, Labcorp and Sunrise laboratories. The provider or the medical assistant will be drawing your labs, using the smallest butterfly needle possible to make the draw as pain-free as possible. You can also get labs drawn at the lab facility, if you prefer.

When will I get my lab results?

Bloodwork typically results in 1-2 days, and 3-7 days for certain tests, cultures and pap smears. Once the provider reviews your labs, we will call you back if you need to return to the clinic to talk about your results. Your results will also be available on the patient portal.

What Covid-19 precautions do you take?

We clean all rooms thoroughly between patients and use social distancing in our waiting room. Please wear your mask in the facility at all times. All of our staff is vaccinated and we encourage you to get vaccinated as well!

What if I have a billing issue?

We have an exceptional biller who will be directly available for patients. We send claims to insurance within four days of your visit, and will never bill self-pay patients additional fees after they have left the clinic. All self-pay payments are finalized before you leave your appointment. If you get a bill that does not look right, please call us so we can correct it!

Can you write prescriptions for suboxone?

As of now, we are not prescribing suboxone, but we may in the future if there is a community need.

What if I need to see a specialist?

We can recommend and refer to many local specialists and are knowledgeable of all the Spanish-speaking specialists in the area. We will connect you/provide referrals for any specialist that you need. Some common specialties for adults (and children) are cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, otolaryngology, nephrology, urology, hematology/oncology, orthopedics, infectious disease, physical therapy, nutrition, behavioral health and surgical. We will work with and communicate often with your specialists to streamline your care.

What if my child (or I) have a needle phobia?

Many people avoid the doctor’s office because of fear. This fear can be from previous personal or family trauma, fear of pain, fear of needles or blood draws, fear of bad news, or just a fear of being somewhere new. We are aware of the anxiety that comes up, and are here to help! For anyone, any age, who is afraid of needles; we use a cold therapy+vibration device to reduce pain before and after injections. Our staff is highly trained in office-based procedures and we promise to make your experience as pain-free as we can!

Can NP’s have their own practice?

Yes! In Maryland, Nurse Practitioners are granted full practice authority. This means we act as primary care providers, and can perform all of the same functions as a physician.

How many providers are at the clinic?

As of now, Julia is the sole provider at the clinic. She likes to spend ample time with each patient and provide a thorough exam. In the event that patient demand exceeds Julia’s availability, another provider will join us. We anticipate a maximum of only two providers, in order to keep the practice and patient care consistent.
